Capacity building of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The purpose of the project was to provide assistance in the establishment of the informational-educational centers in the area of industrial property and the development of a publication server, including digitalization of documentation to allow on-line search. Project provided important activities dedicated directly, as main beneficiary, to the Institute for Intellectual Property, to raise its capacity through the establishment of three Information-educational Centres of the Institute, in Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka but in the same time and to the same extent, correlated with target activities addressed to various stakeholders -viewed as "second line of beneficiaries" - which should directly and efficiently benefit from this project. In order to achieve project goals, major activities performed by the Consultant were:

• Development and testing of Publication server
• Development and design of IT tool for presentation of OCR files
• Development and design on-line search tool
• Installation, configuration and support
• Operational management – permanent communication with Institute senior management, operational and IT level
• Writing reports
• Training delivery to IT other personnel from IIP using the Publication Server

• IT Consultancy
• IT Tool development and implementation
• Training

Overall objective
To assure that the level of protection of intellectual, industrial and commercial property rights are in line with the EU standards, meeting thus the internal market requirements.

Purpose
To strengthen the information and educational function of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The overall objective and purpose were to be achieved via specific objectives of the following two results:

Result 1: Information-educational centres at the lnstitute’s headquarters in Mostar and at Sarajevo and Banja Luka branch office operational

• Publication Server,
• IT tool for presentation of the OCR-ed files
• Online Search of the Patent Register,
• Backlog digitalization
• Establishment of three Information-educational Centres of the Institute, in Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka
